History

The Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS), belonging to the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), was established in 1989. ICCS staff consists of research scientists and more than 500 affiliate scientists (including PhD candidates). Its founding 'Charter' mandated the conduct of high-quality research, developmental activities, and the provision of scientific services to both private and public bodies. Essentially, the role of ICCS is to support the development and implementation of the research priorities of ECE and largely to pursue research funding through the submission of competitive research proposals within the framework of calls for programs by the European Commission.
