Historical Retrospective

The National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) was established in 1837 and is the oldest technological institution in Greece. It has 9 Schools, over 500 faculty members, and approximately 150 institutionalized Laboratories. NTUA addresses modern social and technological issues, promoting advanced research and innovation. It simultaneously seeks to create links between science and education, innovation and industry. The significant national contribution and the achievement of an internationally distinguished position by NTUA are attributed to its high standards, the high quality of teaching and learning and the satisfactory level of infrastructure. NTUA, through the Special Research Funds Account (ELKE NTUA), which is continuously updated and expands its field of activity, manages to self-finance from competitive research projects from which innovative results emerge.
